Our Story

It began in a small town called Sathyamangalam.

I grew up around sarees.

In Sathyamangalam, they belonged to ordinary life as much as to temples, weddings and festivals.

Over time I began noticing the details—the fall of a fabric, the balance of colour, the finish of a border, and the difference between a piece that looked attractive and one that felt right when worn.

After moving to the city, what I missed was not a label or a price point. It was the ease of finding textiles that felt well chosen and honestly described.

So I began speaking with manufacturers and textile suppliers, looking more closely at fibres, looms, yarns and finishes.

That became Vanamalika Weaves—collections chosen in considered batches, some handloom, some powerloom, some festive, some meant to be worn often.

Handpicked Heritage—that is the heart of Vanamalika Weaves.

The meaning of Vanamalika

Vanamalika evokes a garland of forest flowers, formed one flower at a time—each with its own colour and character, yet chosen to belong to something larger.

The name is offered in gratitude to Krishna—Vanamali—who has blessed me with this journey.

Weaves gives the brand room to hold cotton, silk, semi-silk and clearly described blend without suggesting that every piece belongs to one fibre or weaving method.

Founder’s Note

Building something meaningful, one piece at a time.

Vanamalika Weaves began during a season when I wanted two things to coexist: being present for my family and building something entirely my own.

I look at each piece myself, ask questions about its material and making, and share only what I can stand behind. I would rather offer a smaller collection with clarity than a large catalogue built on vague descriptions.

When you choose something from Vanamalika, I hope you feel drawn to its beauty and confident about bringing it home.

What does Handpicked Heritage mean?

Handpicked is how we select.

Heritage is what sarees and Indian textiles carry forward—memory, colour, craft, celebration and ways of dressing passed from one generation to another.

It does not mean that every product is handmade, handloom or traditional in the same way.

Each piece is described according to what has been confirmed about its fabric, loom, construction and details.

Handpicked is our method. Heritage is our sensibility.
